The Arts Council of the Valley
for SMAD 342 at JMU
I worked with two other Creative Advertising students to create a series of digital interactive advertisements for The Arts Council. Our assignment was to create a campaign that brings awareness to the brand and is interactive. We worked with the whole class to create a cohesive campaign.
Client:
The Art Council of the Valley is a non-profit committed to cultivating the arts and connecting communities in the city of Harrisonburg.
Intended Audience:
Citizens of the city of Harrisonburg and Rockingham county, as well as visitors to the area. Harrisonburg is a very diverse city with people from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and is also economically diverse. Visitors are often searching for things to do while visiting the area. Downtown Harrisonburg is a commonly visited location by both residents and visitors.
College students could also be an audience to consider for this campaign. Downtown block party has been a great opportunity for students to get to know downtown. Coffeeshops are a big draw, as are bars and restaurants in the evenings; students often visit downtown on weekends.
Big Idea:
Everyone can enhance their downtown experience through public art.
Media Plan:
Our plan is to create a series of interactive scavenger hunts to incentivize Harrisonburg visitors and residences to check out Art Council of the Valley’s art pieces around Harrisonburg.
